Suspect Arrested in Murder of Dallas ISD Teacher’s Aide After Months-Long Investigation

MESQUITE, Texas – Authorities have made an arrest in connection to the death of a Dallas ISD teacher’s aide. On Wednesday, Jan. 10, Mesquite Police arrested 34-year-old Sixto Banegas Matute from Balch Springs for the murder of 24-year-old Jennifer Mendez Olascoaga.

Mendez Olascoaga was last seen on September 27 leaving a mobile home park along Highway 175 in Seagoville. Her abandoned car, without her purse or phone, was discovered on Lawson Road the following morning. In October, human remains were found near I-20 in Mesquite and were later identified as Mendez Olascoaga.

The Dallas County ME’s Office has ruled her death a homicide. The investigation into the case is ongoing, and further details have not been disclosed at this time.
