Suspect in Woman’s Death Arrested in Arlington with Ankle Monitor

ARLINGTON, TX – A 23-year-old man, Jacob Arriaga Guerrero, is back in custody after a violent series of events that ended with the death of a 63-year-old woman at her apartment complex. Guerrero, who was out on bond for previous charges, is now facing multiple charges, including the potential for a murder charge.

The tragic incident unfolded late Monday night at an apartment complex on Whisper Meadow Lane. Officers arrived to find the elderly woman unresponsive in a breezeway outside her unit. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital. A witness recounted hearing her screams and seeing Guerrero assaulting her with a sharp object. In an attempt to intervene, the witness fired a warning shot, causing Guerrero to flee.

Investigators were able to track Guerrero using GPS data from an ankle monitor he was wearing, which confirmed his presence at the scene during the attack. Not long after, Guerrero was involved in a hit-and-run while driving a stolen SUV, injuring a pedestrian and their dog. He was apprehended by police following the accident.

Just days prior, Guerrero had been released from Tarrant County Jail after posting bond. He was previously accused of stealing a truck containing a firearm and using that weapon to rob a woman at a local Walmart. This incident led to a police chase that ended in a crash in Burleson.

The owner of the stolen truck and gun, Brian McDaniel, expressed his relief at Guerrero’s arrest but was deeply saddened by the loss of life. McDaniel hoped that Guerrero’s capture would prevent further harm in the community.

Guerrero remains in the Arlington Jail, facing several felony charges, including aggravated assault. The charges could be escalated pending the outcome of an autopsy to determine the cause of the woman’s death.

The Arlington community has been left in shock and mourning, with neighbors expressing their grief and concern over the random nature of the attack. Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind Guerrero’s actions.
