LONDON, ENGLAND – Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder after 16-year-old Harry Pitman was stabbed to death at a New Year’s Eve fireworks display in Primrose Hill, Camden. According to the Metropolitan Police, the incident occurred during a “spontaneous fight” between two individuals who did not know each other, resulting in the tragic death of Harry Pitman just before midnight.
The Metropolitan Police announced on Friday that a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of murder. The two teenagers are currently in custody following a public appeal. Detective Chief Inspector Geoff Grogan stated, “This is a fast-paced investigation, and my team is working around the clock to identify those responsible. This is clearly a significant development, and we are keeping Harry’s family informed.”
The Metropolitan Police also confirmed that there is no evidence that the killing was gang-related or racially motivated. Additionally, three other male teenagers, ages 16, 15, and 18, have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
On Wednesday, Harry’s older sister Tayla, 19, emphasized in a TikTok video that her brother was not involved in any gangs or violence, stating, “He’s not ever been in trouble with the police and people are making it out like Harry died because he did something wrong when my brother’s the victim here.”
A vigil was held at Downhills Park in Haringey, north London, to pay tribute to Harry, with around 100 people in attendance, including Harry’s mother, brother, and sister. Tottenham Hotspur fans also plan to honor him during a match on Friday evening.
Harry Pitman was among 21 teenagers killed in violent incidents in London last year, with 18 of them being stabbed. Authorities have urged anyone with information to contact the investigation team or the independent charity Crimestoppers.
