Teenager’s Memorial Service in El Portal Honors Life of Johnnie Henderson, Victim of Miramar Drive-By Shooting

MIRAMAR, FLORIDA – Friends, family, and teachers gathered to honor the life of 17-year-old Johnnie Henderson, who tragically lost his life in a shooting incident in Miramar last week. The teenager was on a date with his girlfriend when a white sedan pulled up alongside them, and multiple rounds of gunfire were heard. Henderson was killed, and his girlfriend was left critically injured.

During a memorial service held at JAM Preparatory Academy, where Henderson was a junior student, his family and friends mourned the loss of a young man with a promising future. Henderson was preparing to graduate early and pursue a college football career, with aspirations of playing for the University of Miami or Florida State University.

As Pastor Lorenzo Johnson, the academy’s owner, revealed, Henderson was dedicated to his dreams and aspirations, attending classes and working hard to achieve his goals. The community gathered to remember and honor him, with friends and teachers reflecting on his life and expressing their heartbreak.

Henderson’s family, still reeling from the shock of the tragedy, pleaded for justice and expressed their profound grief. His aunt, Leketrisse Barnes, described the pain the family was experiencing, emphasizing their hope for the responsible party to come forward and make amends.

The authorities have few leads about the shooter(s) or the motive behind the shooting, leaving the family and the community in distress. Barnes implored anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and provide an anonymous tip to Broward Crime Stoppers.

The tragic loss of a promising young life has left the community mourning, and the search for justice continues as detectives work tirelessly to unravel the circumstances of the shooting. The impact of Henderson’s death has been deeply felt, and his family’s plea for closure underscores the devastating effects of gun violence on families and communities.
