SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Three men were taken into custody in San Antonio on Friday, facing serious charges following the assault of a 30-year-old woman. The suspects, Daniel Polanco, 31, Mark Martinez, 23, and Mark Valdez, 24, have been charged with aggravated sexual assault after a distressing incident reported at a local residence.
Details emerged from a police response to a 911 call initiated by a ride-share driver, whom the victim contacted after fleeing the scene of the alleged assault. She confided in the driver that she had been assaulted by three men, prompting the urgent call for help.
Upon arrival at the Special Victim’s Unit, the woman recounted her harrowing ordeal, explaining that earlier in the evening, following a quarrel with her boyfriend, she walked to Martinez’s house, where she felt she might find some relief. Martinez, whom she knew casually, soon began to make her uncomfortable by touching her inappropriately.
The situation escalated rapidly when Polanco arrived at the house. The victim relayed to him the unwelcome advances by Martinez; however, the ordeal took a darker turn shortly after Valdez appeared at the house, brandishing a firearm equipped with a green laser, and threateningly pointed it at her.
According to police reports, what followed was a violent attack; Polanco forcefully took the victim to another room where he sexually assaulted her despite her pleas for him to stop. Subsequently, Martinez and Valdez also entered the room and participated in assaulting the victim.
Interrogations brought mixed responses from the accused. Martinez and Polanco claimed the sexual encounter was consensual and occurred after the victim used methamphetamine and alcohol. In contrast, Valdez denied any sexual involvement with the victim.
Following their arrest, each man was jailed with bail set at $200,000. The case has since been handed over to the authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings. This incident has sparked discussions in the community about safety and the importance of vigilant support systems for victims of assault.
