LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A woman faces a murder charge in connection with the fatal shooting of her husband in a neighborhood tragedy that has devastated a local family. Alishia Reed, 33, was charged on Oct. 10 for allegedly killing her husband, Shawn Reed, on Sept. 7 in the St. Denis community.
According to police reports, Alishia initially claimed that Shawn died by suicide, allegedly shooting himself with a shotgun after receiving news of a family loss. However, investigators uncovered evidence suggesting a different narrative. Officers found signs of a struggle in the couple’s bedroom, including broken objects and a shotgun left in the corner, raising suspicions about her account.
Shawn’s sisters revealed that Alishia had portrayed herself as a grieving widow in the aftermath of the shooting, even attending her husband’s funeral. “She seemed like a supportive partner,” said Lola Morris, Shawn’s sister. “We had no idea about the turmoil he faced daily.”
