Matthews, who had been serving consecutive sentences for simple burglary from Orleans Parish, passed away on October 16. Just one day later, Johnson, who was serving a life sentence for armed robbery from East Baton Rouge Parish, died as well, according to the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections.
