HARVEY, La. — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate fatal shootings that occurred within a 24-hour period, raising concerns in the community about safety and violence.
The most recent incident happened around 9:20 a.m. on Monday in a neighborhood on Aberdeen Street. The victim, identified by family as 24-year-old Tupac Shakur Robinson, was discovered unresponsive inside his vehicle on Loch Lomond Drive. Law enforcement officials state that he succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene. Early reports suggest Robinson was shot while driving, leading him to crash into several parked cars.
The family of Robinson expressed devastation over the loss, describing him as a loving and hardworking young man. They voiced their grief and frustration, pointing out that the emotional pain is profound for those left behind. “Pain is pain, no matter what. The person responsible doesn’t realize the gravity of what they’ve done,” a family member said.
Meanwhile, earlier that same day, deputies responded to a deadly shooting in Avondale. That incident occurred just before 1 a.m. on Sunday in the 3000 block of Highway 90, outside a Wendy’s restaurant. A 25-year-old named Semaj Brown was taken into custody in connection with that shooting. The identity of the victim from the Avondale incident has not yet been released.
Neighbors expressed shock over the spate of violence in their communities, noting that such events are rare. “This is unsettling. We usually don’t see violence like this around here,” one resident remarked.
At this time, investigators have indicated there is no known connection between the two shootings. As the investigations proceed, law enforcement is urging anyone with information about Robinson’s death to come forward. Tips can be directed to the homicide section at 504-364-5300 or through Crimestoppers.
Both families are seeking answers and justice as the investigations continue, reflecting an increasing sense of urgency in a community grappling with unexpected loss.
