Gary Steward, another patron who was approaching the gym with a friend, recounted how a last-minute stop at a nearby store inadvertently saved their lives. They arrived just in time to see glass shattering as they approached. “It’s just a weird feeling right now,” he said, expressing disbelief over the incident’s occurrence in a gym. “Who shoots up a gym?”
As law enforcement continued to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses, the Las Vegas Athletic Club remained closed, and calls to the facility went unanswered. The investigation is expected to take time as officials work to piece together the sequence of events that led to the tragic shooting.
