SHREVEPORT, La. — A mass shooting early Wednesday left two people dead and six others injured during a gathering of over 150 individuals in the Allendale neighborhood. The Shreveport Police Department responded to reports of the incident shortly after 2 a.m. on the 1600 block of Poland Avenue, where they encountered a chaotic scene.
Upon arrival, officers discovered eight victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Tragically, two of these individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while the six others received injuries that, though serious, are not expected to be life-threatening. Authorities suspect that the incident was a targeted attack, identifying that the intended victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Mayor Tom Arceneaux expressed deep sorrow for the loss within the community, emphasizing that this violence has no place in Shreveport. “We are devastated by the loss of life in Allendale,” he said. “Shreveport deserves safe streets.
