Miami, Florida – Two women who tragically lost their lives in a murder-suicide incident in Miami were identified as student-athletes from New Hampshire’s New England College, as confirmed by the school on Monday.
The victims, Meghan Moore, 25, and Sidney Capolino, 23, were fatally shot by a man at an apartment building on West 40th Street where they resided. The horrific incident unfolded at around 8:53 p.m. on Saturday, leading to a devastating outcome that left the community in shock.
Law enforcement officials found Moore outside the apartment and heard another gunshot coming from inside, prompting them to take swift action to secure the area. Upon further investigation, they discovered two more individuals, later identified as Capolino and Luis Napoles, who had also succumbed to fatal gunshot wounds.
Napoles, who was 40 years old, was in a relationship with Moore, while Capolino was her roommate. The situation culminated in a tragic end with Napoles taking his own life, leaving behind a sense of sorrow and disbelief among those who knew the victims.
Both Moore and Capolino were members of the women’s ice hockey team at New England College, hailing from Massachusetts and New York, respectively. Their passion for the sport and dedication to their studies had made them integral parts of the college community.
As the investigation continues to unfold, details surrounding the motive behind the shooting remain unclear. The sudden and senseless loss of these young lives has left neighbors and acquaintances reeling, underscoring the importance of support systems and resources for those in crisis.
