Athens, Greece — Authorities have arrested five individuals in connection with the fatal shooting of Przemyslaw Jeziorski, a professor at UC Berkeley. Among those detained are Jeziorski’s ex-wife and her current partner, as well as two Albanian nationals and one Bulgarian.
Jeziorski was gunned down on July 4 in a residential area while visiting Athens for a custody hearing concerning his two children. The tragic incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. in Agia Paraskevi, not far from where his ex-wife resides. Eyewitness accounts indicate that a masked assailant approached Jeziorski on foot and fired several rounds, hitting him primarily in the neck and chest. Authorities later recovered seven bullet casings from the scene, confirming the use of a 9mm firearm.
As the investigation unfolds, the five suspects are scheduled to present their testimonies to a prosecutor. Jeziorski’s ex-wife, Konstantina “Nadia” Michelidaki, has denied any participation in the crime, according to her legal representative. The police have also stated that Jeziorski had no criminal record in Greece prior to this incident.
A family member has initiated a fundraising campaign aimed at repatriating Jeziorski’s body to Poland and securing legal assistance in Greece. His brother, Łukasz Jeziorski, expressed the family’s heartbreak and determination to seek justice for the tragedy on their fundraising platform.
Jeziorski, who was 43 years old, held a position as a marketing lecturer at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business for over 13 years, teaching data analytics skills to more than 1,500 graduate and doctoral students. The impact of his loss was deeply felt within the academic community. Jenny Chatman, the dean of the business school, lamented the loss, describing him as a cherished member of the faculty.
The community and Jeziorski’s friends remember him not only for his academic contributions but also for his dedication to his family. His sudden death has shocked many, prompting outpourings of grief and condolences from those who knew him.
In the wake of this heinous act, the local police continue to pursue leads as they search for further information regarding potential motives behind the shooting. As the investigation continues, the family and friends of Jeziorski remain hopeful that justice will ultimately prevail.
