Tragic Christmas Eve: Teen Stepsisters Fatally Shot in Alabama, Neighbor Charged with Double Murder

Beulah, AL — A tragic event struck a small Alabama community on Christmas Eve when two teenage stepsisters, Kayden Lynch, 19, and Madison Daly, 18, were found shot dead in their home. The suspect, their 18-year-old neighbor, Jalen Dashawn Holmes, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with their murders.

The incident occurred in the quiet town of Beulah, where Lynch and Daly lived together in a shared home. According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to emergency calls regarding gunshots at around 3:48 p.m. on Dec. 24. Upon arrival, they found Lynch and Daly with fatal gunshot wounds and pronounced them dead at the scene.

Holmes was taken into custody the same evening and has remained in the Lee County Jail. Details emerged that prior to the incident, Holmes had allegedly assaulted his mother at their neighboring residence. He reportedly proceeded to the victims’ home armed with a handgun.

The community has reacted with shock and sadness. Relatives and friends remember Lynch and Daly as close-knit siblings who cared deeply for one another. Daly also leaves behind a toddler, whose presence in the house at the time of the shooting remains unverified.

Authorities disclosed that two nine-year-old twins were also in the house earlier that day but left before the shootings took place. Their relationship to the victims, however, remains unclear as officials continue to investigate the full scope of the tragedy.

Anna Miller, a friend of both victims, expressed her disbelief to local media, recalling Lynch’s past relationship with Holmes. “She was in love with him,” Miller said. “This was the last thing we had ever expected for him to do.”

As the community mourns, a GoFundMe campaign has been established by Daly’s family to cover funeral expenses. The outpouring of support has been significant, with the campaign rapidly approaching its $5,000 goal. A relative managing the fundraiser expressed gratitude for the contributions: “Thank you to everyone donating during this nightmarish time for our family.”

Holmes faces charges of capital murder of two or more victims. The motive behind the killings is still under investigation by the Lee County authorities, as they continue to gather evidence and piece together the sequence of events that led to the senseless loss of two young lives on a day usually filled with joy and peace.

The case has left the Beulah community reeling, prompting a reexamination of neighborhood safety and the factors that could motivate such a devastating act. Local leaders and residents have called for unity and increased efforts to prevent future tragedies, emphasizing the need for vigilance and community support systems. As the case unfolds, the town waits for answers, hoping for justice for Kayden Lynch and Madison Daly.
