MILWAUKEE — A 54-year-old man faces multiple charges after allegedly killing two individuals in separate incidents within hours of each other. Kevin Griffin has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the deaths of Terrance Wilder, 39, and Aniya Raymond, 31, both of whom were shot during violent confrontations.
Griffin appeared in court for the first time on November 16. Prosecutors say he confessed to the murders, revealing a disturbing sequence of events that began outside his home near 12th Street and Capitol Drive on November 5. Authorities allege Griffin first shot Wilder while attempting to evict him, claiming Wilder had been involved in a drug deal linked to an upstairs unit.
Later, according to investigators, Griffin forced Raymond and her seven-year-old son into his vehicle. During the drive, it is alleged that Raymond attempted to defend herself with a knife and mace. Prosecutors contend that Griffin shot her multiple times, murdering her in front of her child. The young boy was then left abandoned in another location after the incident.
Misty Raymond, Aniya’s mother, expressed her devastation, stating, “I knew something was wrong because she never separates from her child.” She revealed that her grandson was later found wandering barefoot and distressed, with blood on his clothing. He was reunited with family later that day.
After the shooting, authorities say Griffin left Raymond’s body concealed in an alley near 41st and Hampton Avenue before subsequently driving home with the child. Under questioning, prosecutors noted that Griffin allegedly told the boy that his mother would “come for him,” compounding the trauma experienced by the young witness.
Griffin’s criminal history revealed he was a repeat offender, with 14 prior felony convictions. This background adds gravity to the case, raising questions about how he was able to access firearms despite these convictions. Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney Sara Hill called the situation a significant aggravating factor in the case.
In court, Griffin’s bond was set at $500,000. Many are left seeking answers and justice not only for Wilder and Raymond but also for the young boy who witnessed such brutality. Misty Raymond shared her heartbreak, saying she will never see her daughter grow or watch her other son speak his first words due to the tragedy that has unfolded.
The family has initiated a fundraising campaign to support the child and cope with their loss during this harrowing time. As the case proceeds, the community watches closely, hoping for justice and answers to prevent further tragedies.
