Buenos Aires, Argentina – The sudden death of former One Direction member Liam Payne has revealed troubling details following a toxicology test. The 31-year-old vocalist died after reportedly falling from a third-floor balcony at a Buenos Aires hotel on October 16. Authorities found Payne had a mix of potent substances in his system at the time, including ‘pink cocaine,’ a cocktail typically comprising methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA among others, as well as cocaine, benzodiazepine, and crack.
An aluminum pipe, believed to be used for drug ingestion, was also discovered in Payne’s hotel room sparking further investigation into the circumstances surrounding his tragic demise.
In a recent statement, emergency responders reported being summoned to the hotel after staff expressed concerns over a guest who appeared heavily intoxicated. Hotel employees feared for the guest’s safety given his inebriated state near a balcony.
Upon arrival, which was roughly seven minutes after the call, emergency services found Payne deceased in the hotel’s inner courtyard. Alberto Crescenti, the director of Buenos Aires Emergency Medical Services, confirmed the location and time of the discovery.
Forensic examinations conducted shortly thereafter indicated that Payne sustained 25 injuries. The officials cited “multiple traumas” and both “internal and external bleeding” as the preliminary causes of death, highlighting severe head injuries as potentially fatal.
As investigations continue, Payne’s remains will stay in Argentina pending further autopsy results. Amidst these developments, an employee of the hotel was questioned over possible involvement in providing Payne with the substances found. However, to date, no charges have been made against the individual.
