Tiffin, Ohio — A tragic incident in November claimed the lives of two adults and two children, culminating in a murder-suicide that has left the community in shock. The Seneca County Coroner’s Office announced the conclusion of its investigation into the horrific events that transpired on Huss Street, confirming the identities and causes of death for all involved.
According to a statement from the coroner’s office, autopsies were performed on November 21, just days after the shooting that occurred on November 19. The investigation revealed that 29-year-old Dustin Willey suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his head, neck, torso, and back, with his death ruled a homicide.
Tragically, the autopsy findings also detailed the deaths of two children. A 7-year-old was determined to have died from several gunshot wounds to the head and neck, while his 7-month-old sibling succumbed to a single gunshot wound to the head. Both deaths were classified as homicides, underscoring the senselessness of the violence.
The shooter, Ryan Eagon, 42, died by suicide, having inflicted a single gunshot wound to his head. The coroner reported that a toxicology analysis indicated a presumptive positive for caffeine, but no further details were provided.
Authorities revealed that police were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of gunfire and screams just before 6:30 p.m. on that fateful evening. Upon arrival, officers discovered several individuals with gunshot wounds.
Investigators learned that the children’s mother had returned to the home to retrieve personal belongings amid ongoing domestic issues. She had enlisted Willey’s help to move out while Eagon was believed to be at work. As the mother and Willey gathered their items, the children waited outside by a vehicle.
When the 7-year-old cried out, the adults rushed outside, only to encounter Eagon in the driveway. According to police reports, Eagon immediately targeted Willey, forcing his way past the mother and firing several shots. He then turned his firearm on the children before continuing to pursue Willey. Eagon ultimately took his own life at the scene.
In a heart-wrenching account, the mother recounted carrying her injured children back into the house before help arrived. First responders transported Willey to Tiffin Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after. The youngest child and Eagon were declared dead at the scene, while the 7-year-old was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
