Rancho Cordova, Calif. — The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identities of four individuals involved in a tragic murder-suicide that occurred earlier this week.
Around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, law enforcement responded to reports of gunfire in the 5400 block of Mill Water Circle, igniting a swift emergency response. Initial calls indicated shots were fired near Copper Sunset Way, prompting officers to investigate.
Upon entering the residence, officers discovered David Vallerga, 58, along with a woman and two children who were unresponsive. First responders pronounced all four individuals dead at the scene, their deaths attributed to apparent gunshot wounds.
Investigators believe Vallerga may have taken the lives of the woman and the two children before his own. The victims have been identified as Lindsey Burger, 49; Sydney Peralta Vallerga, 11; and Colton Peralta Vallerga, 13. The designated cause of death for all is homicide, according to the coroner’s office.
While detectives continue to piece together the events that led to this devastating incident, they are actively looking for a motive behind Vallerga’s actions. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have indicated that further details will be released as the inquiry develops.
