Hyderabad, India — A tragic incident unfolded in Madhuranagar when 38-year-old Pavan Kumar was found dead in his bedroom, allegedly after a violent encounter with his pet dog. The discovery was made on May 4 when his roommate, P. Sandeep, expressed concern over Pavan’s silence. Having been discharged recently from a hospital for a breathing issue, Pavan did not respond to Sandeep’s knocks on the door.
After failing to get a response, Sandeep broke into the room, only to find Pavan unconscious and suffering from severe injuries. Police were called, and upon their arrival, they noted the extensive wounds inflicted by the dog, particularly around his private areas. Authorities stated that Pavan was bleeding heavily and showed no signs of life. His body has since been taken to Gandhi Hospital for a postmortem examination, which aims to clarify the circumstances surrounding his death.
The police have not disclosed the condition of the dog involved, leaving many unanswered questions about the pet’s fate following the incident. Pavan, originally from Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh, worked as a cashier in a private firm, while Sandeep, his roommate of five years, is a realtor. Both men had maintained a close living arrangement, making this incident even more tragic.
In a separate but equally alarming case, a four-year-old girl was attacked by two stray dogs in Rajendranagar earlier this year. The attack, captured on CCTV, showed the dogs dragging and biting the child as she screamed for help. Her mother, alerted by the commotion, rushed to her aid and was able to rescue the girl from the vicious animals. She sustained significant injuries to her legs and torso and was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Such incidents have raised concerns among local residents, who are frustrated with municipal authorities’ inaction regarding stray dog populations in residential areas. Many residents believe that failure to manage these animals contributes to the increasing number of attacks, which not only endanger children but also pose risks to adults.
