Tragic Loss: Former Team USA Skater Gabrielle ‘Sam’ Linehan Killed in Starbucks Drive-Thru During Armed Robbery

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The tragic shooting of a former U.S. figure skater at a Starbucks drive-thru has shocked the local community. Gabrielle “Sam” Linehan, 28, was fatally shot around 10 a.m. Tuesday during what authorities are calling an armed robbery. The suspect, identified as 58-year-old Keith Lamon Brown, has a long criminal history and was arrested early Wednesday.

According to court filings, Brown allegedly confronted Linehan in her vehicle, ordering her to raise her hands before shooting her. He proceeded to take her driver’s license and bank cards. Following the incident, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department released surveillance images of Brown, showing him in a high-visibility vest and white helmet at the time of the crime.

Police later executed a search warrant at Brown’s residence, uncovering evidence linked to multiple prior robberies. Authorities confirmed that he was armed at the time of his arrest. The investigation revealed that Brown was also sought for armed robberies that took place just days before Linehan’s death. In one instance, he allegedly threatened a victim in a drive-thru, stealing their firearm and personal belongings. On another occasion, he demanded money from a store cashier while brandishing his weapon.

Brown’s criminal record dates back to 1986, and his convictions include armed criminal action from multiple incidents over the years. The extent of his previous offenses raised significant concerns as law enforcement navigates this recent tragedy.

Linehan was more than just a talented athlete; she significantly impacted her community as a coach at the Metro Edge Figure Skating Club. In a heartfelt statement on social media, the club expressed its devastation over her death, emphasizing her dedication to nurturing young skaters and promoting values like teamwork and resilience.

Linehan represented Team USA from 2013 to 2015 and played a crucial role on the junior team that earned a silver medal at the 2014 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships. Her loss has reverberated throughout the skating community, which is now focused on providing support for her family and the athletes she mentored.

As the investigation continues, Brown is currently being held without bond at the St. Louis City Justice Center, facing charges that include first-degree murder, multiple counts of robbery, and unlawful possession of a firearm. The community grapples with this horrific loss while seeking justice for a beloved figure and an advocate for young athletes.
