HOUSTON, Texas – An apparent murder-suicide at a residential complex in the Westchase area has left investigators puzzled over the motivation behind the tragic incident. According to authorities, the shooter, who they believe was a resident of the Westchase Forest Apartments, entered the leasing office and opened fire on a male and female employee before turning the gun on himself.
The male victim managed to survive the attack and is currently recovering in the hospital. Meanwhile, the identity of the shooter remains unknown. The property management company, Tam Residential, declined to comment on the individuals involved in the shooting but expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to those affected by the senseless tragedy.
The family of the female victim, Lisa Blackburn, is mourning the loss of their beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Known for her kindness and generosity, Blackburn was a breast cancer survivor who dedicated 30 years of her life to working as an apartment manager. She was described as someone who deeply cared for her residents, especially the children, often going above and beyond to organize parties for them out of her own pocket.
In addition to her role as an apartment manager, Blackburn was an active member of the Tutu Live Mardi Gras Krewe, a non-profit group of women who bring joy and positive energy to the community through dance and parades. The Krewe, deeply impacted by Blackburn’s passing, remembered her as someone with an infectious smile and vibrant personality. They had planned to honor her at their final Mardi Gras parade of the season.
As the community grapples with the devastating loss, the Houston Police Department continues its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic events at the Westchase Forest Apartments.
