HENDERSON, Nev. — A tragic road rage incident resulted in the death of an 11-year-old boy, igniting outrage and sorrow within the community. Body camera footage released by law enforcement shows the chaotic moments following the shooting that occurred on the morning of November 14, as traffic clogged the freeway during rush hour.
According to authorities, two vehicles engaged in a heated confrontation while maneuvering within congested traffic. One driver reportedly attempted to bypass vehicles by driving on the freeway’s shoulder, which escalated tensions between the two motorists. In a sudden turn of events, the alleged shooter, 22-year-old Tyler Matthew Johns, fired a gun at a hybrid SUV driven by the victim’s stepfather, striking young Brandon Dominguez-Chavarria, who was seated in the back.
Brandon was en route to school when he was injured. Following the gunfire, the boy’s stepfather collided with the suspect’s vehicle in a desperate attempt to confront him. Witnesses reported that both drivers exited their cars and continued exchanging heated words amid the ongoing chaos on the freeway. Video footage captured a distraught father lamenting, “My kid is dead!” as he faced the aftermath of the tragedy.
Johns appeared visibly shaken as he spoke to responding officers, admitting to the shooting but claiming he was unaware of the child’s presence in the vehicle. “I shot at him bro,” he said, expressing disbelief when confronted by law enforcement.
