Tragic Road Rage Incident Claims Life of 11-Year-Old Brandon Dominguez, Family Launches Support Fund

HENDERSON, Nev. — An online fundraising campaign has revealed the identity of the 11-year-old boy who was tragically shot and killed during a road rage incident on a freeway in Henderson. The victim, Brandon Dominguez, was remembered by his family as a vibrant and affectionate child who brought joy to those around him.

The GoFundMe page, organized by Victor Ayala, who is identified as Dominguez’s uncle, describes the young boy as “the light of our family” and celebrates his love for soccer and the popular online game Roblox. The fundraiser has already garnered nearly $9,000, aiming for a total of $20,000 to cover medical expenses and support for the family as they navigate this devastating loss.

Brandon’s death occurred following an altercation on the 215 Beltway, as two vehicles engaged in a dangerous showdown. Henderson Police Chief Reggie Rader recounted how drivers of an SUV and a sedan were involved in a heated confrontation at about 7:30 a.m. on Friday. Authorities stated that after exchanging words, a shot was fired from the sedan, striking the boy, who was seated in the back of the SUV driven by his stepfather.

Emergency responders rushed Brandon to the University Medical Center, but despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. In the wake of the shooting, officers arrested 22-year-old Tyler Johns, who is now facing charges of open murder and two counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle. Court records indicate that Johns was denied bail during his initial court appearance and is expected to return to court on Tuesday.

Family and friends mourn the loss of Brandon, whose enthusiasm for life left a significant impact on those who knew him. Ayala expressed the profound grief felt by the family, noting that the void left by his passing is irreplaceable.

The tragic incident has reignited conversations about road rage and its potentially deadly consequences. Law enforcement is urging drivers to remain calm and avoid confrontations that can escalate. Police Chief Rader emphasized the seriousness of road rage incidents, highlighting the importance of exercising restraint behind the wheel.

As the community comes together to support Brandon’s family through the GoFundMe campaign and various forms of outreach, it serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the need for vigilance on the road.
