SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A tragic incident unfolded in the Sacramento County area when 10-year-old Keith Frierson was shot and killed by another 10-year-old boy using a gun from his father’s car. The shooting occurred in the parking lot of an apartment complex, leaving Keith’s mother, Brittani Frierson, devastated. Just moments before the shooting, Keith had offered to help his mother with the groceries and then asked to go ride his bike, only to have tragedy strike soon after.
Authorities revealed that the boy who fired the gun was the son of 53-year-old Arkete Davis, who appeared in court for the first time to face several firearm-related charges, as well as child endangerment and being an accessory after the fact. According to investigators, Davis’ son accessed the gun from his father’s car, shot Keith, and then attempted to get rid of the weapon, which had been reported stolen in 2017. Davis is currently being held without bail due to the potential danger he poses to the community.
In the aftermath of the shooting, community advocate Berry Accius expressed concerns about the future of the 10-year-old boy involved, emphasizing the importance of accountability and breaking the cycle of dysfunction. Despite her own grief and pain, Brittani Frierson called for the young boy to receive the help and support he needs, stressing the need for love and care in the face of such a tragic situation.
As the family prepares for memorial services for Keith, they seek justice for their son and the community grapples with the aftermath of the incident. The young boy who fired the gun will no longer be facing charges, as the sole criminal liability for Keith’s death has been placed on Davis. The case continues to unfold as the community mourns the loss of a young life and grapples with the complexities of the situation.
