Mt. Juliet, Tenn. — A violent confrontation at Cedar Creek Marina has left two people dead, including the suspect, following a shootout with police late Friday night. Authorities responded to reports of a shooter on the docks around 9:40 p.m., prompting a shelter-in-place order for residents in the area.
As officers arrived, they discovered a man threatening another individual. During the ensuing search for the suspected shooter, gunfire was detected, and officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The suspect, after engaging with law enforcement, barricaded himself aboard a boat. Just before 1 a.m., he opened fire on officers, who returned fire in defense, striking him. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. During the investigation, officers also located a second victim who had been shot by the suspect; this individual was also found deceased.
