NEW ORLEANS — Authorities have identified three individuals fatally shot in different incidents across the city over the past week, prompting investigations into each case.
Brenda Maricela Bueso Molina, 38, was discovered alongside another victim in an apartment located in the 14700 block of Chef Menteur Highway on October 8. The police are treating the incident as a potential murder-suicide. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office has noted that it typically does not disclose the names of individuals who die by suicide.
In a separate incident on the same day, Clifton Green, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene near Duncan Plaza after an altercation escalated into violence. Authorities found him unresponsive at the intersection of Gravier Street and Loyola Avenue. His death has been classified as a homicide, with police indicating that Green had been involved in a confrontation with several individuals. Two men, identified as Aaron Brown, 35, and Mason Rucker, 31, have been arrested and charged with manslaughter in connection with this incident. Both remain in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
Another tragedy occurred on October 11, when Jarmone Smith, 42, was shot in the Leonidas neighborhood. Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 2600 block of Cambronne Street around 6 p.m. and found Smith suffering from gunshot injuries. He was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. The recent surge in violence across New Orleans has raised concerns within the community, as residents grapple with the impact of these tragic events. Local advocates are urging increased patrols and community engagement to help address safety and prevent further loss of life.
Officials continue to investigate the motives behind these shootings, seeking any additional witnesses or information that could aid in resolving these cases. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct autopsies to gather further evidence as law enforcement works to restore a sense of security in the affected neighborhoods.
