Two Men Arrested in Evansville Following Brutal Assault Linked to Personal Vendetta

Evansville, Ind. — Late Saturday evening, a horrific and brutal assault unfolded in Evansville, resulting in the critical injury of one man and the arrest of two suspects. Police said the altercation, which involved blunt head trauma and other severe injuries to the victim, was caught on various surveillance devices, providing them with crucial evidence to make the arrests.

The incident originated on E Tennessee Street around 10:30 p.m. when a local resident, observing a distressing scene from their home, noticed a bloodied man appearing on their porch. The man, before losing consciousness, sought help at the nearest residence but was unable to communicate clearly due to his condition. Emergency services swiftly transported him to a hospital where he remains in a life-threatening state, showing no signs of responsiveness.

Authorities apprehended Charles Ethan Miles and Cade Christopher Kirk after piecing together surveillance footage from the neighborhood and a nearby gas station. The footage depicted a chilling sequence where Miles initially tried to assault the victim before both suspects, using Kirk’s vehicle, tracked down and violently attacked the man at the intersection of Heidelbach Avenue and Tennessee.

Further investigation led law enforcement to a residence on Morton Avenue via flock cameras. They executed a coordinated approach to call out the individuals in the house, resulting in the additional arrest of Samantha Brooke Chase, who faced unrelated charges. During processing at the Vanderburgh County Jail, details emerged that Kirk and Chase were in a relationship and shared the Morton Avenue home with Miles.

In a surprising twist, Chase disclosed to officers that the victim had prior interpersonal connections with Miles’ family, alleging that the victim was once romantically involved with Miles’ wife. This revelation provided a possible motive for the aggression, as Miles later claimed to police that the victim had sent inappropriate images to his wife before the attack.

During the arrest, authorities confiscated a set of brass knuckles from Kirk, which he denied using during the assault. However, the impact of the object was evident from the victim’s injuries, complicating the legal repercussions for Kirk.

As investigations continue and the victim fights for life, charges against Miles and Kirk include attempted murder, with potential reevaluation depending on the victim’s survival. Meanwhile, Chase, who faced charges for failing to appear in court, has been released.

This violent episode highlights the disturbing potential for personal disputes to escalate into severe criminality, reflecting broader issues of community safety and the impact of domestic relations on public incidents of violence.
