VICTORVILLE, Calif. (AP) – Authorities in San Bernardino County are investigating a death near a Chevron gas station in Victorville under suspicious circumstances.
The incident occurred at the Chevron Extra Mile fuel station on the 14200 block of Bear Valley Road, near the intersection of Mall Boulevard shortly before 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials, deputies discovered a small fire near the entrance to the business and a deceased male subject upon arrival. The identity of the male subject and the cause of death will be determined by the Coroner’s Office through an autopsy.
Emergency services responded to a distress call from a store employee who reported seeing a person on fire. Despite their life-saving efforts, the individual succumbed to their injuries. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed.
The entire parking lot adjacent to the Chevron station near T-Mobile was taped off by deputies from the Victorville Police Department to secure the area. The San Bernardino County Homicide Detail will continue the ongoing investigation.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials have not confirmed the allegations of the woman being on fire or responded to requests for additional information. Further updates on the developing story will be released as they become available.
