Guwahati, Assam – A violent incident unfolded in Guwahati’s Pandu area late Saturday night, resulting in a vicious attack on a family following a Bihu feud. The distressing event, occurring around 12:30 AM, involved three individuals, including a woman, who reportedly used sharp weapons to assault the family and cause significant injuries, in addition to damaging their property.
According to reports, the attackers, identified as Ricky Mallick, Amit Sinha, and Ricky Mallick’s mother, Lakhi Mallick, forcibly entered the home of Mohan Rajak in No. 8 Colony. They proceeded to viciously assault Rajak and his family members with sharp weapons, resulting in severe injuries. The assailants also caused damage to the house and a car by using rods, sticks, and beer bottles during the ruthless attack.
A relative of the victim recounted the harrowing experience, explaining that a previous altercation had occurred between Ricky Mallick and other committee members during a recent Bihu celebration. Although a police complaint had been filed at the Jalukbari police station following the initial incident, the attackers returned to the residence the following night and unleashed a brutal assault on the family. The brother-in-law and his wife sustained severe injuries and were in critical condition, leading to a chaotic and traumatic situation for all family members involved.
In a surprising turn of events, the officer in charge of the Jalukbari police station, Ritujyoti Nath, provided a statement acknowledging the ongoing investigation into a clash at a Bihu event, despite no reported case regarding the night’s confrontation in Pandu.
