PATTAYA, Thailand — A night out at Pattaya Beach turned violent early Tuesday morning when a dispute over service fees escalated into an attack, leaving one transgender worker hospitalized.
Emergency response teams were called to the scene around 1:50 a.m. following reports of a physical altercation near Soi 13/1. Officers from the Pattaya City Police Station, alongside trained rescue volunteers from Sawang Boriboon, arrived to find several transgender individuals visibly distressed. Among them was Mr. Sila Phuensan, a 22-year-old from Khon Kaen province, who suffered significant injuries to his right hand, caused by a broken bottle during the incident. First aid was administered at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
According to Mr. Sila, the confrontation began when he and his friends were approached by a man who inquired about their activities. After a brief conversation, the discussion shifted to service fees for entertainment. When both parties failed to reach an agreement, the situation deteriorated, prompting the man to leave, but not before returning with a long wooden stick.
Witnesses reported that, upon his return, the suspect chased the group and, during the ensuing conflict, wielded a broken glass bottle in his attack on Mr. Sila. The assailant fled soon after, leaving the victim and his friends in shock.
Local authorities are currently combing through the area for evidence and are actively working to identify the suspect. Officials have urged anyone with information about the incident or the individual involved to come forward, emphasizing their commitment to bringing the attacker to justice.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about safety in Pattaya, a popular tourist destination known for its vibrant nightlife and diverse community. Police efforts to ensure a secure environment continue, especially in areas frequented by vulnerable populations.
As investigations continue, the local community remains on edge, hoping for a swift resolution to the case and increased measures to protect all individuals in the bustling beach town.
