Vodka Bottle Attack: Oxford Man Sentenced to 30 Months for Wounding Partner

OXFORD, ENGLAND – A man from Chillingworth Crescent in Oxford, Lewis Wootton, 41, has recently pleaded guilty to wounding his partner with a smashed vodka bottle. Originally scheduled for trial at Oxford Crown Court, Wootton’s guilty plea came as a surprise on Monday, January 29th. The incident, which occurred last July, left his partner, Hayley Dalton, with a deep cut on her face.

According to reports, the altercation took place at The Leys Pharmacy in Atkyns Road, Headington, around 2 pm on the day of the attack. The altercation commenced when Wootton engaged in an argument with passersby regarding heroin use, before turning on Miss Dalton and subjecting her to a violent assault. Wootton’s use of a shard of glass from a smashed vodka bottle resulted in a 12cm long and 3cm deep laceration on Miss Dalton’s face.

As a result of his actions, Wootton received a 30-month sentence from Judge Joseph Hart. Wootton’s violent outburst was referred to as “violently losing his temper,” which has left his partner with a “life-long, depressing reminder.” Subsequently, Wootton has also pleaded guilty to affray and criminal damage and has been subjected to a restraining order until further notice.

Specialist investigator Rebecca Newman remarked on the violent nature of Wootton’s actions in public, causing substantial and permanent scarring to the victim, Miss Dalton. She expressed satisfaction with the sentencing, as it provides an opportunity for the victim to recover and rebuild her life. The incident serves as a reminder of the lasting impact of domestic violence and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
