Wadmalaw Island Woman Arrested for Murder Following Gruesome Discovery of Man Stabbed in Road

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. — A woman has been charged with murder following the discovery of a man’s body in the roadway on Dec. 1. Authorities arrested 28-year-old Phoebe Grace Armstrong on Dec. 16 after an investigation by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office revealed critical evidence linking her to the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to the 2400 block of North Edenvale Road early on the morning of Dec. 1 in response to reports of an unresponsive male. Upon arrival, they located the victim on Whistler Road, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators indicated that the body displayed tire marks, suggesting a violent encounter.

While officers were examining the scene, Armstrong drove by in a BMW. A deputy initiated a traffic stop after noticing dried blood on her vehicle. Subsequent questioning and forensic analysis, including phone GPS data and an autopsy report, led to her arrest.

Investigative documents revealed that video acquired from Armstrong’s phone showed the victim walking away from her vehicle on Wheeler Road just before the incident occurred. The footage indicated that the two were embroiled in a domestic dispute at the time. Furthermore, both Armstrong and the victim reportedly had a tumultuous history of domestic violence, with records indicating that they had been involved in multiple incidents as both victims and perpetrators.

GPS tracking placed Armstrong at a Circle K gas station following the event, where surveillance footage captured her moving around her car with the light from her cell phone. This activity raised further suspicion during the investigation.

Armstrong has since been booked at the Al Cannon Detention Center. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office is handling the identification process of the deceased man, and further details are anticipated to be released as the investigation unfolds. The community remains on alert as this tragic event raises concerns about domestic violence and public safety.
