BURIEN, WA – Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with the alarming kidnapping and torture of a woman in Burien, an incident that has left the local community in shock. The victim recounted to authorities how she was abducted from outside her home after returning from work, a crime that almost claimed her life.
The case, which took months for investigators to unravel, has now led to the arrest of Alexander Arnaez and Kevin Sanabria. These men are facing charges of kidnapping, robbery, and attempted murder, according to recently filed court documents. The alleged plan involved abducting the woman, stealing her car and jewelry, and ultimately intending to kill her. However, the victim’s resilience allowed her to survive the ordeal.
The terrifying sequence of events began at the woman’s apartment complex in Burien, where she was forcibly taken as she arrived home. The suspects reportedly used a power drill on her hands, inflicted threats, and later transported her to a remote location near Snoqualmie Pass. It was there they pushed her over a barrier and shot her. Pretending to be dead, the victim waited until her assailants left before seeking help.
Months of collaborative efforts by the King County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI culminated in the arrests. The suspects were apprehended, with one being captured by Mercer Island police and the other already in custody at the King County Jail.
The investigation revealed that the suspects used extreme violence and intimidation in an attempt to access the victim’s financial information. They threatened to kill her and her family and even suggested feeding her to bears, according to the charging documents.
Authorities noted the fear of retaliation among both the victim and witnesses, as one of the suspects is suspected to have connections to a Venezuelan gang. This fear posed significant challenges in gathering information, highlighting the importance of anonymous crime reporting platforms.
Residents of the area, though aware of the incident and having heard the victim’s distress, have been reluctant to speak out due to concerns for their safety. The community remains on edge, grappling with the aftermath of what transpired.
The suspects now face serious charges, including kidnapping, robbery, and attempted murder, with additional penalties for using a firearm. The arrests mark a significant step forward in bringing justice to the victim and restoring a sense of security to the community.
