Woodstock Man Sentenced to 50 Years After Violent Assault on Girlfriend: ‘He Terrorized Her,’ Prosecutor Says

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A 24-year-old man has received a 50-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to a series of charges stemming from a violent incident involving his girlfriend in Woodstock last fall. Logan Ben Jordan, a resident of Waleska, was ordered to serve 15 years behind bars, according to the office of District Attorney Susan K. Treadway.

Authorities reported that the charges against Jordan included several serious offenses, such as false imprisonment, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and various forms of battery. The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation into the incident, which was prosecuted by Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Rachel Ashe of the Domestic Violence Unit.

“This was a prolonged and brutal attack,” Ashe stated, emphasizing the emotional and physical toll the violence took on the victim. She explained that the defendant’s actions not only inflicted physical harm but also instilled deep fear and trauma.

During the plea hearing held on September 11, the victim recounted her struggle with long-term psychological distress, revealing that she has experienced post-traumatic stress disorder as a consequence of the attack. Her testimony included harrowing details, such as being threatened with a knife and subjected to strangulation.

While the prosecution recommended the prison sentence, the defense sought probation, arguing that Jordan had not committed any further offenses since his arrest. However, Superior Court Judge Jennifer L. Davis decided to impose a prison term, which also includes strict conditions barring any contact with the victim and requiring him to undergo mandatory counseling upon release.

The case highlights ongoing concerns surrounding domestic violence and the legal system’s response to such incidents. Advocates for victims argue that more needs to be done to ensure their safety and well-being following traumatic experiences.
