Bronx Wife Living in Fear as Police Search for Husband’s Killers

NEW YORK, NY – The wife of a man fatally shot near their home in the Williamsbridge section of the Bronx is living in constant fear as police work to track down two individuals involved in the slaying.

Hector David, 34, was last seen by his wife in their kitchen on December 20th before he went outside to smoke. He was captured on the security cameras outside their home before the shooting occurred, leaving his wife in the dark about what happened next.

The fatal incident took place around 3:40 a.m. on Carpenter Ave. near E. 221st St. when David was approached by Daniel Santos, 22, and two other men. Santos fired two shots from a 9-mm. pistol, hitting David in the torso. Despite being rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, he did not survive.

The suspect, Santos, was arrested and charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon. He was held without bail following an arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court.

David’s widow described him as a good man, father, and husband who always provided for their family and emphasized that he was not a violent person. Records show that David had spent two years behind bars for a previous Bronx conviction for assault and menacing a police officer.

The slain man had a 2-year-old daughter and a 14-year-old son. Police are still searching for the other individuals involved in the shooting.
