Development: Fourth Suspect Arrested in Bre’Asia Powell Murder Case – Mother Finds Hope in Justice March

Atlanta, Georgia – The mother of a Southwest Atlanta teenager has shared that there has been a significant development in the case of her daughter, who tragically lost her life almost a year ago during an unauthorized graduation party. 16-year-old Bre’Asia Powell was fatally shot during the event for students from Mays High School.

Bre’Asia’s mother, Necole Williams, spoke of how challenging it has been to cope with the loss of her daughter, expressing that every day presents a struggle without her. Despite the pain, Williams found some comfort in recent updates from the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office regarding her daughter’s case.

Bre’Asia Powell was described as a talented student at Mays High School, excelling in various activities such as dance, cheerleading, basketball, and volleyball. Her promising future was abruptly cut short by the senseless shooting incident at the graduation party.

As the one-year anniversary of Bre’Asia’s passing approaches, Williams plans to organize a justice march in her honor on May 28 along Benjamin E. Mays Drive in Atlanta. The march will serve as a tribute to her daughter and a call for justice.

Amidst her grief, Williams remains hopeful as Atlanta Police recently announced the arrest of a fourth suspect, Jakell Mumford, in connection with the case. Mumford faces charges related to suspected gang activity and has reportedly confessed to sending threatening messages to a witness of Bre’Asia Powell’s murder via social media.

Reflecting on the loss of her daughter, Williams emphasized the importance of accountability, warning those responsible for the shooting that there are consequences for their actions. The ongoing investigation and pursuit of new leads by the police bring some reassurance to Williams as she seeks closure and justice for her daughter’s untimely death.
