Disturbing Murder-Suicide: Texas Mother Fatally Shoots 3-Year-Old Son Before Taking Her Own Life

San Antonio, Texas – Authorities in San Antonio, Texas have disclosed disturbing details surrounding an apparent murder-suicide involving a mother who allegedly fatally shot her 3-year-old son before taking her own life.

Savannah Kriger, a 32-year-old woman, and her young son, Kaiden Kriger, were discovered lifeless on March 19 in a drainage ditch near Tom Slick Park in San Antonio. The tragic find came after an Amber Alert was issued for the missing boy.

The medical examiner’s office declared Kriger’s death a suicide and Kaiden’s death a homicide, both resulting from gunshot wounds according to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar.

Sheriff Salazar outlined a disturbing timeline of events in a news conference, detailing how Kriger left work early on March 18 and proceeded to her ex-husband’s residence. There, she reportedly engaged in destructive behavior, damaging property and belongings.

Following the episode at her ex-husband’s home, Kriger returned to her residence where she engaged in further unsettling behavior. Salazar revealed that she fired shots into wedding portraits after laying out wedding dresses on the bed.

In a troubling turn of events, Kriger checked her son out of daycare later in the day and proceeded to make a call to her ex-husband over FaceTime, delivering a chilling message. This was followed by a series of attempts to reach him again, culminating in a final text message stating, “Say goodbye to your son.”

The bodies of Kriger and her son were eventually discovered nearly a day later in the park, marking a heart-wrenching end to a tumultuous series of events. Investigators had been scouring the area since a welfare check was requested the previous day, while an Amber Alert was issued for Kaiden during the search.

The custody battle between Kriger and her ex-husband over Kaiden added a layer of complexity to the tragedy. The court hearing scheduled for the day the bodies were found underscored the gravity of the situation and the challenging circumstances faced by all involved.
