Driver Arrested for Dangerous Driving Causing Death in Tampines Multiple-Vehicle Accident

Singapore – A tragic accident in Tampines on Monday morning resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to several others after a collision involving six vehicles at a traffic junction. The driver of a black car, a 42-year-old male, was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday and subsequently arrested for dangerous driving causing death, according to police reports.

The fatalities included a 17-year-old female car passenger and a 57-year-old female van passenger, who were both rushed unconscious to the hospital and later succumbed to their injuries. Among the survivors were three male car drivers, a 64-year-old male van driver, and two young male passengers who were all conscious when conveyed to the hospital.

Incident reports indicated that the black car, driven by the suspect, was seen speeding along Tampines Avenue 1 in dashcam footage shared on social media. A witness, a 45-year-old salesman named Li, described the erratic driving behavior of the black car as it dangerously switched lanes without signaling, causing a collision with another vehicle.

The reckless actions of the black car allegedly led to a chain reaction of accidents at the junction, involving multiple vehicles, including a school bus. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find multiple individuals injured and in need of medical attention, with one person requiring rescue from being trapped under a car wheel.

After the incident, eight individuals were taken to various hospitals for treatment, with commendation given to members of the public, including a nurse and off-duty personnel, for their assistance in aiding the injured. The Singapore Civil Defence Force acknowledged the swift response and support provided to those affected by the tragic accident.

Authorities have taken swift action in suspending the driver’s license of the black car and placing him under arrest for his role in the fatal collision. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the incident and any further legal actions that may be warranted to address the consequences of the accident.
