Earlville Man Charged in Violent Home Invasion Attack in Shabbona

SYCAMORE, Illinois – An Earlville man is facing serious charges following a violent attack and home invasion in Shabbona, as court documents reveal. Steven S. Frangoules, 32, reportedly choked and beat a woman during a drive, threatening her life and breaking into her home.

Frangoules has been charged with multiple offenses including four counts of aggravated domestic battery causing strangulation, two counts of aggravated domestic battery with prior convictions, and criminal trespass, according to DeKalb County court records filed on April 16. If convicted of the most severe charge, home invasion, Frangoules could potentially face up to 30 years in prison.

During his initial hearing in front of Circuit Court Judge Jospeh Pedersen, Frangoules was ordered to be held at DeKalb County Jail without release. Prosecutors argued against his release, citing the violent nature of the charges and Frangoules’ criminal history as reasons for concern.

The incident unfolded when Frangoules and the victim were leaving a bar in Sandwich en route to Shabbona. Throughout the drive, Frangoules allegedly assaulted the woman multiple times, leaving her with visible injuries. Despite her attempts to escape, Frangoules continued to restrain and harm her.

Following the harrowing ordeal, the woman managed to seek help from a neighbor and contact authorities. Frangoules was arrested and now awaits further legal proceedings. The judge highlighted the severity of the incident and the danger Frangoules poses if released, underscoring the need for accountability and justice in this case.

As the community grapples with this shocking crime, it serves as a chilling reminder of the prevalence of domestic violence and the importance of supporting victims in their pursuit of safety and justice. The legal process will continue to unfold as Frangoules awaits his next court appearance, facing the consequences of his alleged actions.
