Elderly Woman Seriously Injured in Violent Louisville Home Invasion, Suspect Arrested

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A violent home invasion in Valley Station over the weekend left an 82-year-old woman seriously injured. As reported by the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD), the victim is currently in serious but stable condition following the attack. The arrest in this case was made on Monday, after a woman turned herself in and confessed to the attack at Metro Corrections.

The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Jamara Cureton, admitted to the violent home invasion that occurred on Friday night. According to police, Cureton shattered the victim’s patio door and proceeded to beat the victim before stealing her wallet, cash, and phone. Screenshots released to the media by LMPD suggest that the suspect was carrying a weapon, potentially a hatchet, during the attack. Cureton has been charged with three counts of first-degree robbery in connection to the home invasion.

In addition to the attack on Ridge Lake Drive, Cureton confessed to two other home invasions nearby, including one where two people were allegedly assaulted. One homeowner, Christine Sears, recounted a harrowing experience where Cureton entered her home through an unlocked back door on New Year’s Eve. Sears managed to scare off the attacker and was grateful that someone had been arrested in connection with the home invasions.

Police believe that Cureton acted alone during the alleged robberies, and she is expected to appear in court on Tuesday morning. The 82-year-old victim is expected to make a full recovery, and residents of Valley Station are relieved that the string of home invasions appears to be over. The community is hopeful that justice will be served for the victims of these violent attacks.
