Nelson, British Columbia – Selkirk College’s Silver King Campus in Nelson, British Columbia was evacuated on Thursday afternoon after two explosions occurred outside a trades building.
The Nelson Police Department confirmed that there were no injuries or casualties resulting from the explosions. However, first responders are currently on the scene, and the public has been advised to steer clear of the campus as a precautionary measure.
Witnesses described hearing a pair of loud blasts and seeing a large plume of smoke rising from the campus. The Silver King Campus, located in Nelson’s Rosemont neighbourhood, is home to Selkirk’s Industry and Trades Training program.
According to a source familiar with the situation, the explosions took place outside a trades building. The cause of the explosions has not been determined or announced at this time.
