NORFOLK, Va. – A mother from Hanover County, Virginia is seeking justice for her son who was tragically shot and killed in Norfolk more than five years ago. Nate Evans, a former Lee-Davis High School football standout and sophomore at William & Mary, was fatally shot in what authorities described as a drug-related incident near Old Dominion University’s campus.
Brandi Evans, Nate’s mother, experienced a devastating moment when Hanover County deputies informed her of her son’s untimely death in March 2019. Nate, who had ambitions of playing in the NFL and had a passion for art, was known for his positive energy and desire to inspire others. His untimely death left his loved ones shattered, with Brandi reminiscing about how Nate had the ability to uplift those around him.
The tragic incident unfolded when Nate, allegedly meeting someone known to him near ODU to sell marijuana, was shot four times after the individual attempted to steal the drugs. Kri’Shawn Beamon was later arrested and charged with second-degree murder, while another man, Keith Bryant Jr., faced charges relating to Nate’s death four years after the incident.
