Killer of 17-Year-Old Girl in Long Beach Still at Large: Authorities Seek Public’s Help

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in apprehending the perpetrator responsible for the tragic shooting death of 17-year-old Briana Soto near her residence in Long Beach back in March.

Soto sustained fatal injuries on the evening of March 26 around 8:25 p.m. near the intersection of 11th Street and Lewis Avenue, as confirmed by the Long Beach Police Department. Tragically, she passed away later at a hospital.

Chief Wally Hebeish of the LBPD held a press conference at the police headquarters on Tuesday morning, unveiling security footage capturing an individual walking in the vicinity of the victim’s neighborhood.

Hebeish mentioned during the press conference, “The footage we are disclosing today, derived from surveillance cameras, exhibits a person walking in the neighborhood just prior to the heinous crime.”

Describing the suspect, Hebeish noted, “The individual appears to be a male wearing dark attire with a mask covering his face. Moreover, we have reason to believe the suspect fled south immediately after the incident and began discarding clothing.”

Reports indicate that the teenager was returning home from work at a McDonald’s when the tragic incident occurred.

Authorities are encouraging anyone in possession of information pertaining to the case to reach out to Detectives Ethan Shear or Chasen Contreras at 562-570-7244.

Together, we can ensure justice for Briana Soto and her loved ones.
