LEWISTON, Maine – In response to the tragic mass shooting that took place in October, a group of 11 Maine writers came together to create a collection of stories with the purpose of raising funds for the nonprofit organization Everytown for Gun Safety.
The anthology, titled “Maine Character Energy: A Charity Anthology,” was the brainchild of editor Sarah Parke, who was inspired by a column written by Stephen King for The New York Times. This anthology, dedicated to the victims, survivors, and families affected by the Lewiston massacre, aims to raise awareness about the impact of gun violence while serving as a poignant reminder that such tragedies can occur anywhere.
The collection of stories, published by Rogue Owl Press, is set against the backdrop of Maine and features narratives that celebrate the resilience of the people of Maine. All proceeds from the sale of the anthology will go to Everytown for Gun Safety, a nonprofit organization that advocates for common-sense gun laws and works towards ending gun violence.
