Man Indicted on Aggravated Murder Charges in Brutal Columbus Hotel Attack

Columbus, Ohio – Arthur Scott Jr. faces serious charges including aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, kidnapping, rape, and strangulation in connection with the death of 61-year-old Li-Chu Lin. A grand jury in Franklin County indicted Scott following what authorities described as a brutal attack at a north Columbus hotel.

The indictment, with six counts, was released this Monday, detailing the allegations against Scott. Court documents from Franklin County Municipal Court revealed that Columbus Division of Police officers responded to a call reporting Lin’s death at the Double Ten Hotel on Zumstein Drive on April 26. When they arrived, they discovered Lin with injuries consistent with a brutal attack.

Investigators obtained surveillance footage from the hotel, which allegedly showed Scott checking unlocked doors in the hallway before entering a room where Lin also entered shortly after. Scott was later seen leaving the room on video. Lin was found naked with physical injuries inside the room, leading detectives to uncover evidence of other crimes, including rape.

Scott was apprehended near the hotel on Saturday and taken into custody. During questioning, court records indicated that he confessed to the murder of Lin and other offenses. The grand jury noted that Scott had a history of violent crimes, referencing a previous criminal case from May 28, 2020.

Upon his appearance in municipal court last month, Scott was assigned a $2 million bond. He is scheduled to appear in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas this Wednesday to face the charges brought against him in connection with the death of Li-Chu Lin.
