Phenix City, Alabama – A man convicted of the heinous crimes of raping and murdering a 5-year-old girl in eastern Alabama nearly three years ago has been sentenced to death by a judge following a recent trial. The 39-year-old, Jeremy Tremain Williams, was found guilty of four counts of capital murder in the torture and killing of Kamarie Holland, as determined by a Russell County jury.
The tragic discovery of the young girl’s body was made back in December 2021 in a vacant home in Phenix City, located about 80 miles east of Montgomery near the Georgia-Alabama state line. In addition to the capital murder charges, Williams was also found guilty of other crimes including sodomy, sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old, production of obscene material involving a child, human trafficking, conspiracy to commit human trafficking, and abuse of a corpse.
Despite pleading guilty in the case, Alabama law mandated a jury to ascertain the suspect’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt in a death penalty case. The presiding Circuit Court Judge, David Johnson, handed down the death sentence on Monday. Subsequently, Williams was transported to Holman Correctional Facility, which houses the state’s death row inmates.
Prior to the conviction, Williams had been previously linked to child abuse cases in the area, including charges of abuse in 2009 and being acquitted in 2012. Following the trial outcome, Kamarie’s father expressed relief that justice had finally been served, emphasizing that his daughter would never be forgotten.
The tragic saga surrounding Kamarie’s death also involved her mother, Kristy Siple, who was indicted on charges related to the girl’s death. Siple faced charges of human trafficking as she allegedly agreed to receive payment in exchange for allowing the sexual abuse of her minor child. She pleaded guilty to one count of human sex trafficking and faces a potential prison sentence of up to 20 years.
The community continues to mourn the loss of Kamarie and seek closure in the wake of such a devastating crime. The legal proceedings have brought a sliver of justice to a heart-wrenching tragedy, but the scars left by the heinous acts committed against an innocent child will endure for years to come.
