On Thursday, April 25, at 6:30 p.m., a remembrance ceremony will be held at SimardPayne Memorial Park in Lewiston, featuring moments of silence and heartfelt remarks.
This event holds great significance as the shootings occurred on October 25, 2023, at a bar and a bowling alley in Lewiston, sparking widespread fear and uncertainty among residents. Thousands sought refuge in their homes, while schools, businesses, and offices closed during the ensuing manhunt for the shooter, Robert Card, a 40-year-old Army reservist. Card was found two days later in Lisbon, deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Hosted by the Maine Resiliency Center, a vital support system for those affected by the tragedy, Thursday’s gathering aims to offer solace and unity to the community. Prior to the public ceremony, victims, their loved ones, and friends will gather for a closed, private event to commemorate the lives lost and the impact of the senseless violence that shook the town.
