Rochester Man Guilty of Violent Assault Against Teenage Niece: Facing Prison Time

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – In a harrowing case of familial betrayal and violence, a man from Rochester has been found guilty of severely assaulting his teenage niece. The man, identified as Jacob Seffens, was convicted for brutally attacking his niece, resulting in such severe injuries that she had to be placed in a coma.

According to prosecutors, Seffens was engaged in a sexual relationship with the teenager, which took a violent turn on June 14 when she attempted to end the inappropriate relationship. Seffens resorted to using a baseball bat to inflict injuries on the victim, causing life-threatening swelling in her brain.

Fortunately, thanks to the exceptional care provided by the medical staff at Strong Memorial Hospital, the victim is anticipated to make a full recovery from the traumatic incident. Assistant District Attorney Patrick Gallagher commended the survivor for her courage in confronting her attacker in court, emphasizing the importance of her story in preventing further harm by Seffens.

Seffens now faces a substantial prison sentence ranging from five to 25 years for his egregious actions. His sentencing is scheduled for May 28, where the final judgment will be delivered. This case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence and abuse within families, urging society to remain vigilant and speak out against such heinous crimes.
