Michigan also faced the wrath of the storms, experiencing tornado touchdowns in Kalamazoo, Cass, and Branch counties, prompting Governor Gretchen Whitmer to declare a state of emergency for the affected areas. The devastation in Kalamazoo County’s Portage area included a torn-apart FedEx facility and destroyed mobile homes, trapping dozens of individuals within the damaged structures.
