The incident unfolded at 321 Fisher Drive, where deputies responded to reports of a shooting around 9:11 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered one individual deceased at the scene.

Residents in the area, including Deltona local Rob Redgate, were startled by the commotion as police cars swarmed the neighborhood. Another neighbor, who chose to remain anonymous, shared her fear and concern for her safety amid the chaotic events that unfolded.

The sheriff’s office disclosed that the shooting transpired due to a road rage incident in which the shooter claimed acted in self-defense. The shooter detailed encountering a white Dodge Charger on the road that began to tailgate them aggressively with its high beams on, eventually leading to a fatal confrontation on Fisher Drive.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood emphasized the dangers of engaging in aggressive driving behavior, highlighting the tragic outcome that can result from minor disputes on the road. The victim in this case, identified as 37-year-old Kenyon Ashley of Deltona, lost his life in a senseless act of violence stemming from a momentary lapse in judgment.
