The deadly altercation took place in a residential area off of Shipp Road on Wednesday evening. According to Powder Springs Police Captain Jason Holcombe, the confrontation between two groups of teens escalated from social media interactions and messages into a physical altercation. During the fight, one of the teens produced a semi-automatic gun which ultimately led to fatal consequences.

The gunshot fired during the altercation tragically struck 19-year-old Fabrice Robelin, known by friends and family as Mathew, in the neck and head. Heartbroken by the devastating loss of her son, Mathew’s mother, Margalie Cherenfant, expressed her grief and called for an end to senseless gun violence among young individuals. Describing her son as her “little Prince,” Cherenfant revealed that Mathew was a recent graduate of McEachern High School and had completed his first semester of college. Amidst the devastation, there is a plea for greater awareness, education, and compassion to prevent such heartbreaking losses from occurring in the future.
